Those of you that know me know that I’m a big fan of video games. Besides watching movies, my favorite thing to do is to sit down and play a great game. In my earlier years I played the hell out of a particular game: World of Warcraft. I’ve finally escaped the game’s clutches (at least for now), but the creators of the series, Blizzard, have decided to team up with Legendary to create a live action movie set in the universe. The first trailer for Warcraft dropped last week and can be seen above.

I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this one. The CGI is great and the movie has managed to do what so many other video game movies have failed to: they made a film that looks a lot like the game it’s based on. On the other side of that same coin, this movie looks nerdy as hell. Even in our post-nerd acceptance world, I wonder if something this nerdy, a film filled with tusked Orcs and Griffon-riding humans as main characters could ever appeal to the general masses.

I’m a big fan of Director Duncan Jones’ previous work (Moon, Source Code) and I’m liking that the movie seems to be paying equal attention to both sides of the conflict. As a former resident of the world of Warcraft, I’m interested enough that I’ll end up going to see this movie. What about you? In a world where Star Wars: The Force Awakens is about to make billions of dollars, is Warcraft still too nerdy for you? Let us know in the comments!

Warcraft hits theaters in June 10, 2016 and is currently stacked up against the sequel to Now You See Me, the most presumptuous movie title in recent history.
