The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot was terrible. Seriously awful. The turtles looked like scary, unlikable monsters. Shredder was boring. Megan Fox was…Megan Fox. But what’s worse is the movie tried to take itself way too seriously instead of just embracing the inherent weirdness of the franchise. Unfortunately, enough people were nostalgic for the 90’s that the movie scraped up enough money to get a sequel. So here’s the trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows.

After watching the above trailer, I’m pretty sure TMNT 2 will be just as bad as the first one, if not worse. That being said…I’m kind of enjoying the vibe here. It’s looking like the movie is actually embracing the cartoon material and is finally ready to have some fun with it. Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman!? Beebop and Rocksteady? The Turtles van that shoots manhole covers? Casey Jones? You bring in Krang and you got yourself a full on 90s cartoon in movie form. Oh what’s that? He’s rumored to be in this movie!? Sign me the hell up.

Let me be clear here. There is no chance in hell that TMNT 2 will be a good movie. But maybe, just maybe, it will be a fun one. And that’s all we can really ask for.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows opens June 3, 2016. Here’s a video of Vanilla Ice’s Ninja Rap because I will never miss an opportunity to post a video of Vanilla Ice’s Ninja Rap.
